Legalisation and change of use

Many houses in the Algarve have annexes, extensions or alterations that were never licensed. We help regularise them so you can sell, rent or finance with peace of mind.

How legalisation works

We start with an accurate survey of what exists and compare it with what is licensed. We then assess whether legalisation is possible under the current rules and what changes are required.

We prepare the legalisation project, including the required engineering projects, and follow the application with the Municipality until the occupancy permit is issued.

Change of use

Turning a shop into a home, a warehouse into an office or a home into a holiday let often requires a specific procedure. We check feasibility and take care of everything.

Frequently asked questions

Is legalisation always possible?

Not always. It depends on the municipal plan and other constraints. That is why we first carry out a feasibility analysis, before any design work.

Do I need to legalise before selling my house?

For a smooth sale, the property should match what is licensed and registered. Discrepancies are often picked up by banks and buyers.

Do you have a plot, a house or an idea?

Tell us what you have in mind. We will make an initial, no-obligation assessment and tell you honestly what the simplest route is.
